I am a working mother from Southern California. I don’t remember when I learned to knit and crochet, but it really took off once my three children became involved in AYSO soccer. Knitting helped my sanity during many many practices and games. Scrapbooking and sewing are not quite as portable as a bit of yarn and needles.
I love taking classes and attending conferences like Vogue Knitting live. I have taught many friends to knit and now am teaching at local yarn shops. I love to develop classes and materials for the class. Usually I bring a little something extra for my students. Look for the list of my events.
Because I wanted to teach classes with a project in mind, I started designing patterns that would help my students learn new techniques and create something wonderful. Look for my designs on Ravelry – my ID is KathiS.
When I am not working at Caltech or knitting or designing, you can find me in my garden or hiking the local San Gabriel mountains.
