My Deer Work Buddies

Big City….   Yes Deer

Los Angeles is a big city, but it is surrounded by numerous outdoor spaces that we 2-legged humans share with some not so tame 4-legged creatures.  I wrote about knitting at the beach while watching my daughter surf and knitting while camping in the Sequoias.  Not only do I enjoy knitting outside, but I am lucky to work near the mountains of Pasadena/La Canada (about 15 miles from downtown Los Angeles).  I frequently enjoy a hike along the stream next to the Gabrielino Trail  and wildlife comes down from the hills and and hangs out around our buildings.

Friends at the Bus Stop

Parking is a challenge where I work so when I have a meeting at a nearby but of-site location, I try to leave my car in its spot and take the shuttle bus.  On a recent trip these deer were hanging out at the bus stop nibbling on fallen flower petals.  The Mom didn’t seem too interested, but the fawn kept trying to come right up to me.  While she was cute, I know better than to play with wild animals and left her alone (other than to snap a few shots with my iPhone).

I love the color of her back and can’t you imagine a golden tan cowl with white spots….  wonder what I golden tan I have have in my stash….
